A little background:
I work at a bar and this couple comes in every weekend and spends about five hours sitting at the bar. They eat, they drink, and they never leave until we call last call.
Previous bartenders have told them they suck at tipping which is why they don’t care for them but the couple keeps returning.
Now apparently this guys ex girlfriend used to pay for everything and would tip better but this new girlfriend sucks at tipping and so does he.
This past weekend I saw him in the bar two times and on Sunday I had enough.
Last weeks bill $73 – tipped $7
This weekends bill- $98 dollars. Tipped $9
Meanwhile, my barback treats him well. He gives him shots, food, etc and will take care of him first.
So when we got tipped $9 for the 10% three weeks in a row I asked him about it because I do not work for free.
He told me he did not mean to offend any of us and wouldn’t give me a real reason why he tips like shit every single time. Finally he said “it’s financial reasons” so I simply told him if it’s financial than why doesn’t he spend the $75-100 bucks on cases of bud lt and sit in front of his own tv for five hours and not sit at my bar. He’s also apparently friends with my bar back so I also explain this is a slap in his face as well.
I totally understand not having money to tip well but when you spend close to $100 every weekend and take room up at a bar between two people, you damn well can cough up an extra $10 each to tip.
I’m not sure if I’m just being a bitch but this has been a constant thing and I’m tired of my coworkers who are extremely nice to them get shit.
