An old employee worked the system really well.

I left my job as an ops lead for legal document writing right before COVID and when that hit they sent all the employees to work from home (which should’ve been allowed anyways). I was at a gathering a month or so ago and ran into one of my old employees who told me that the company told everyone to go back to the office. I knew that wouldn’t have worked well with one of the old team members and asked how she handled it. I guess she refused to come back to the office so they threatened to fire her. Well, she’s the favorite specialist of one of the lawyers we outsource for so in one of her emails she said something like “it was great working with you. I’m being terminated because the company won’t allow me to continue working from home.” That lawyer was on the phone…

That lawyer was on the phone with the company so fast and told them he’d pull all services if she was terminated.

She now works from home.

Totally ballsy move and mad respect for that. I think that’s my favorite story.
