so when i was younger all i cared about is how much per hour i would make
now.. i noticed a weird thing when i job hunt
i cant really consider any jobs that are to physically demanding, not because i cant do physical work.. but because the health care in this country is absolute dog shit and i cant risk getting hurt because going to a doctor even with insurance is a major financial setback. and forget about any serious injury that requires multiple visits or a specialist..
i also cant really consider anything outdoors, because being in the heat is no a very real concern and getting worse every year.
same goes for being in non climate controlled warehouses or factories. its scary how few of these jobs have made any progress here and at some point they are just going to be flat out unworkable for humans because we cant handle certain conditions. there is zero excuse for places to not be climate controlled, specially going forward as it gets hotter and hotter. 90+ and thats already a heat stroke risk, and some people are working in 100+
i also cant consider any driving positions that require my own car like doordash or uber, etc most of them dont pay for gas or give you allowance for car repairs, and the cost of gas and mechanics are very expensive.
i am basically forced out of most jobs, not because i cant do them. but because they dont even cover the costs of working them, let alone the cost of living.
i am literally working at a gas station, not because i want to, or am not skilled enough to get a different job.. its because its “safe” and i am at low risk of injury, and its inside in the air conditioning..
if that isnt peak america… idk what is.
when are we going to stand up? please tell me soon
