I currently work at a small restaurant that's owned by a family who was kind enough to give me a job when I couldn't find one.
I currently have an open workers comp case and lawsuit that's been going on since 2019.
I was working as a home/facility health care provider when I had my work place accident.
My injury prevented me from going back to work as a care provider and as COVID-19 got worse so did my case managers who were responsible for getting me the surgery I needed to fix my injured arm. I ended up waiting 18 months to get my surgery and now have permanent damage to my dominant arm. Due to this finding a job has been near impossible. I had to give up on my vehicle payments I lost my apartment nearly everything I owned and moved back to California with my mother.
I was searching for a job Dailey with no vehicle yet my ambition and persistence wasn't enough to get me a job.
I'd often ace my interviews up until the point where I had to be transparent about my injury . After I bring it up no matter how I'd try to sell my ability to work effectively I'd never get a call back.
That's when I discovered the small family owned Mexican restaurant.
The owner was a really nice man who decided to give me a shot and because of him I've been able to live more comfortably these past few weeks.
13-18 hours a week at 11$ an hour isn't much but it's something. I even split the tips I get when I work the window with the cook out of respect and appreciation. I doubt you'll ever read this but if you do Sergio , thanks for keeping me on my feet when the times were hard. I hope I can pay you back someday.
