i work in furniture sales, and it's my first ever commission only based job. i was aware of the process before i was hired, i'm not upset about being laid off. i was told what numbers i needed to hit, and i wasn't able to hit them mostly because i'm not a very pushy person. it's not the career for me.
my issue is, every single person that was hired after me, which is 7 out of our 11 person crew (we have 3 managers, i'm the most senior associate), refuses to learn what i taught myself about all the little intricacies about our company in the last 7 months. so, in the last seven months i have been pulled off of the floor to train other employees and help them close sales. in the beginning i was fine helping and training, now they've all been here about four months, and they all still need help on every single sale. some of them can't even read our tags to find an item SKU. but, i'm the one being fired. i'm the only one who knows how to do fucking anything at work, and that's somehow not important.
my GM actually tried to assign meetings that i'm supposed to run to teach them all anything they haven't learned yet, twice a week, an hour before my shifts start. i told him there is no way that's happening, blamed it on being a terrible public speaker. i just needed a place to vent about how large corporations steam roll competent people for anyone who could make a little bit more money for their pockets.
