Uber Doesn’t Deliver

Thanks Uber! No really, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. I've used the UberEats platform over the past 2 years to suppliment my puny income, so that I could potentially earn a livable wage. I took advantage of boost zones, promotions/opportunities, and other various chances to WORK to make money while watching over half of each fare go to your platform, while relying on tips. The one saving grace was knowing that my vehicle was insured, and that you had a policy on us when driving on the app to protect our vehicle while we make both of us money. That was until I was delivering last Sunday, when a person parked on the curb didn't look, and decided to pull out into my car, causing a major paint gouge and dents to both doors, stretching from the end of the front quarter panel, all the way…

That was until I was delivering last Sunday, when a person parked on the curb didn't look, and decided to pull out into my car, causing a major paint gouge and dents to both doors, stretching from the end of the front quarter panel, all the way to my rear bumper. Because I was driving for Uber at the time, I called the Police to get a report KNOWING that if I didn't, Uber wouldn't cover anything. My luck, the driver of the vehicle (at fault mind you), didn't have a licence, the vehicle wasn't registered, and they didn't have insurance. That's ok, that's what Uber's policy is for right???

WRONG! Progressive (Uber's coverage) has a $2500 DEDUCTIBLE, and the damage to my vehicle was estimated at $2999.80. Does Progressive go after the other driver for that though? NOOOOOO, they tell me I'M responsible for the deductible, and once paid they will then place a $2500 account in collections for me to try and collect from the at fault party. How thoughtful of them.

Why have I been supporting UberEats over the past 2.5 years, putting myself, and my vehicle at risk through a Pandemic, only to have them put me into the collection agency business for an accident that wasn't my fault? The police report determined it was the other driver's fault. The 10 Lawyers that have sent me mail and called me asking if I was hurt have determined it was the other driver's fault. Even the Claim Manager at Progressive said it's the other driver's fault, yet now I have to pay this and then hope that a collection agency can recoup my losses? This sounds like the job of a multi-billion dollar corporation, not of someone trying to scrape by.
