I live in Iceland, and i have a friend that has worked at a restaurant for four years. The restaurant closed last year temporarily and just opened up again. Apparently her contract was up last november so they sent her an email asking if they could hire her again, only now for way less money. Shes the only staff member who can handle being alone on shifts, other shifts have two people. Shes never asked for pay raise. She has loyal customers. This is an insult.
Shes an immigrant from the philippines so we strongly suspect that plays into the fact they think shell just say yes, amen and take the job back.
