put in my two weeks last night

i work as a teller at a popular west coast bank. i started in november and ever since then the place has had numerous problems. i wanted to stay for 6 months but i could only make it to 5 after last night. the last week we were actually short staffed, not their fault, but also the place has horrible retainment anyway. the longest someone stayed was one year. this time one person moved, the other needed surgery, and one got covid all at the same time. there were 3 tellers plus my AM left since my manager wasn’t there. i had already told them i need part time hours (my contract hours) MANY times and they always tried to talk circles around it, and would often call me everyday asking me to come in early or come in on my day off when i finally got one. the last…

the last week we were actually short staffed, not their fault, but also the place has horrible retainment anyway. the longest someone stayed was one year. this time one person moved, the other needed surgery, and one got covid all at the same time. there were 3 tellers plus my AM left since my manager wasn’t there. i had already told them i need part time hours (my contract hours) MANY times and they always tried to talk circles around it, and would often call me everyday asking me to come in early or come in on my day off when i finally got one.

the last three days i had to stay late, on top of already agreeing to work six days a week for them with shorter shifts. i had been debating quitting since i started, but i was getting more exhausted everyday. then last night our money machine broke. AM refused to listen to the IT guy because it was going to affect her, so i had to stay an hour later until she finally did what he asked when she was done with her work. during the day she was horrible. she constantly complained about being busy yet avoided the teller line like the plague. when she was on the line she was rude to customers and didn’t communicate with the tellers like we all know to do. when i had to refill my machine because the line was going out the door and i ran out of money, she refused to let me fill it even though i was over my limit. she was then rude to my customer and interrupted us so she could have my attention for one second. she tried to tell me i was falsifying bank records by signing back in from break and then peeing for TWO MINUTES, because i should be “doing that on my break”. keep in mind she has actually falsified bank records by not putting in her lunches. last night after the machine was fixed i was so tired of it i gave her my two weeks.

she told me to send them an email and had the audacity to say i might change my mind after 2 weeks. she literally admitted to me that for the two new people they hired they didn’t even look at qualifications or skills or experience just that they can be there 6 days a week…and both positions are part time (25 and 19 hours..)

there was also many other problems with management in general, the way they completely lack coherent training for tellers, and i’m pretty sure they break some bank violations because they can’t manage their time properly. the biggest issue for me was being forced to work 6 days a week with 8 and a half hour days for so long as a 25 hour worker.

i’m going to send my email this morning but i m not sure how to word it. i want to be cordial because I’d like to use them as a reference, but i feel my manager is unaware of how bad the AM is.

sorry this is so long but i’m just so glad i finally gave my two weeks!! gonna take some time for myself i think.

TLDR: my bank and assistant manager suck so i gave my two weeks
