I'm getting really fed up with the 'go the extra mile' mentality expected from prospective employers. Was sent over a job description in which the very first line says 'You must be frequently willing and able to consistently work outside of working hours to see the job through'. Here's the thing prospective employer, you advertised for a 9-5 Monday-Friday, so in truth those aren't the advertised hours at all. Also what is 'seeing the job through' exactly, this is for a large business managing many clients and projects. I don't give it a shit about your clients past 5pm unless you are paying me enough for it to be worth my while, otherwise get fucked. Be nice to have time outside of work to actually live a somewhat enjoyable life but fuck me I guess i'll just work that 40 hour + infinite mandatory overtime.
PSA to employers – If you are advertising for a 9-5, those are the hours I work. When your first line involves effectively constant mandatory overtime, do one.
