Everyone at my work is half-assing their job and I couldn’t be happier

We are a billing dept of a non-profit (all women staff) so we don't get paid nearly enough anyway. We are also overloaded with work that we cannot possibly do efficiently especially dealing with health insurance companies that put obstacles in your way on purpose and gaslight you when you call them out. I started 9 months ago and have established myself as a competent person who is detail-oriented but somewhere around the 5 month mark I started to get frustrated with a lot of things about the job. But the best thing about the job is that my boss is the most chill woman on the planet. She understands what life is all about and doesn't use toxic micromanagement techniques. But the best thing about the job is that my boss is the most
chill woman on the planet. She understands what life is all about and doesn't use toxic micromanagement techniques.

Today I learned that my boss is also behind, probably because our ED (CEO) is on a partial hiatus and a lot of the executive duties duties are falling on her. So, I think she is probably humble and has some reservations about pointing out the lack of productivity among the staff. No surprise that its the most seasoned people that seem to be half-assing.

As the second newest team member and the token Millennial of the office I know better than to take full advantage but I'm also not going to over exert myself either. My greatest skill is that I am a good communicator and transparent about if my schedule needs to be changed. I put in my hours and take breaks and then I leave.

I'm basically a glorified paper pusher at this point but I get bonuses, full PTO payout and decent health insurance. I'm treated like a human with a life outside of work. I can't say that about every employer I've had. I'm kinda over pursuing a higher calling. I prefer to volunteer my free time to campaigning Democrats who share my values and will protect my right to choose. “Making a difference” and collecting a paycheck can't always be done at the same time.

I've found something beautiful here. I'm
not letting it go.

Edited for some clarity and reflective tone.
