I have years of leadership and management under my belt, and have worked with companies that align with interests. I’m very picky and for the most part, have been fortunate to have relatively smooth and seamless job, great managers and developed my skills immensely because of the pro-employee environments the companies had.
In late August, after a bunch of shenanigans where I was employed, I decided it’d be best to quit on a Monday morning. So I did. It was the first time I ever did that, and the first time I ever worked somewhere that did all of the things you read about and get angry at here. I had no back up, small savings and nothing lined up. I was worried but relieved that my mental health wouldn’t be at risk daily because of work.
In the weeks since, I’ve been interviewing and have had horrible experiences: companies ghosting, no communication, or straight up rejection after rejection.
Just under two weeks ago, a recruiter reached out. I decided “what the hell.” She was approachable, transparent and seemed to have my interest in mind. I said I was interested in the position. Last Monday, I had a zoom interview. Then an in-person interview on Wednesday.
And this morning I woke up and shortly after, had a phone call. It was the recruiter with a verbal offer.
I’m beyond excited and know that this will be like those past jobs that have been great.
For those of y’all who are stuck in dead end jobs or have shitty managers…keep the chin high and do what you need to do for yourself.
