My less experienced co-worker was promoted over me

Just as the title says my CO worker that I worked with for years got promoted over me to a sales manager position. Backstory: We both work in sales at the same store I actually got her hired at my store she was previously from a smaller location. She had some experience but I really took her under my wing where I had been doing it longer and was a shift manager for a while. I also had trained many newbies and helped run this store for a while. We both have been top in the company for sales but I have been doing this for about 7 years and about 5-6 for my co worker. Backstory:
We both work in sales at the same store I actually got her hired at my store she was previously from a smaller location. She had some experience but I really took her under my wing where I had been doing it longer and was a shift manager for a while. I also had trained many newbies and helped run this store for a while. We both have been top in the company for sales but I have been doing this for about 7 years and about 5-6 for my co worker. A new company bought us and opened up new opportunities. So, recently a smaller location nearby needed some help and I was sent over to try and help that store produce. At 1st it was temporary and then I was asked if I would mind staying in what I said that wouldn't be a problem I was told by the way by the way your CO worker was promoted to sale's manager of the old store. I was happy for my coworker but also very surprised that I was not offered this position. Originally they advised they were waiting about 6 months before they once before they decided who would be manager but It has only been 3 months since this new company took over. They told me they changed their mind because that store is a very high volume store and they want to have a manager before the holidays. So I felt blindsided because as soon as I agreed to stay and take a possible opportunity of this small store to become supervisor this happened. The even made a comment saying because me and my CO worker were so close as friend's it would be better if I didn't work under them. They had this really uplifting meeting thanking me for all the progress of the store and everything I've been doing and how valuable I am. However, they then advise that this location being smaller doesn't warrant a sales manager. So, now I was moved from my store I was originally at and was not offered the promotion and now I can't even get a promotion where I am. I really tried not to be bitter at my coworker because they just accepted a promotion that was offered them it's not their fault. However, I can't help feeling like I have a bad taste in my mouth with this new senior leadership for what happened. I have kept quiet only voicing some of what I felt too to my coworker that was promoted. I honestly don't know what to do I love this job but I can't help feeling really down right now and even angry at times because of what has happened. Any advice??
