people don’t want to work huh?

So… I interviewed and weld tested a young lady with certifications that none of my welders have. She was polite responsive and performed well. I told HR to make her an offer. They did… It was low. 17$ an hour. But she accepted and they set a start date of today. I arrived hoping to see her ready to rock. She didn't show. So I asked the new plant manager what was going on. He pulls me aside and tells me that she accepted the offer and the new GM decided to lower it the day before to 16$!!! So we agreed on a price. Set the start. You know what they said? That GM's response was “wow I guess they really didn't want to work huh?”

In the area of the country that I am in if you have an education and you have the proper certificates the starting wages anywhere from 18 to $22 an hour. 1-5$ an hour higher than she accepted.

That is the most unprofessional s*** I've seen in a decade.
