My job’s corporate doesn’t get that their low rate of pay is why we’re understaffed…

Sorry for the rant in advance! I am a training supervisor at a healthcare call center (we have 50+ locations) and we have been trying to hire more call center representatives for months. Our indeed listing does not list the rate of pay but new hires start at $17/hr (We are in NY). People have been applying, interviewing, finding out the pay…then either not accepting our job offers or just simply not answering lol. My supervisor kept saying “People are ridiculous.. nobody wants to work… yada yada” until we all spoke up. We all asked her “Have you seen the average hourly rate for CSRs in this area? It's starting at $21/hr…” She didn't believe us and blew us off for months. We've told her this several times now. It wasn't until someone who had interviewed declined her offer and actually expressed that to her. She very shortly after went…

She very shortly after went to HR and had them run an area rate analysis. They confirmed the average was indeed about $21/hr. She told us she'd talk to corporate about re-evaluating our wages for the raises that were already owed to us from 2 months prior. They continued dodging us and most of us gave them the benefit of the doubt and thought, “Oh! They're trying to come up with a fair number for the employees they claim to care so much about.”

They ended up giving a pathetic 3% raise to everyone outside of corporate.. regardless of your review or seniority. Only ONE employee was raised to $21/hr. Nobody else was raised to meet that $21/hr. They bumped new hire starting wage to $18/hr. 5 people including a supervisor quit within 2 weeks. The last 2 new hires I trained, made it about a week with us then said they got calls back from other jobs they applied to that pay more. I also do far beyond what my job description requires and it was documented in my review, but received the same 3%. I am the one employee who was raised to $21/hr…from $19.50. I bust my ass. I train every single new and existing employee on how to do their jobs, how to operate multiple systems, create all required training material (corporate doesn't supply shit) and am currently helping plan, coordinate, AND SCRIPT our new high-tech phone system. I'm honestly insulted and have been looking for a way to split, myself.

Corporate still haven't learned either and are STILL confused as to why we are low staffed/not getting job inquiries. I try to make them understand but… for a company that is getting way ahead of themselves to seem like a big fancy corporation.. they're gonna sink really quick the way they're going.

TLDR; My job wont pay their employees fairly and wonder why people are leaving and they're drowning.

Edit: For reference, we're specifically on Long Island.

“According to the National Low Income Housing Coalition's 2021 Out of Reach report, fair market rent on Long Island is $2,035. That means a household needs to earn $81,390 per year or $39.13 per hour to afford a basic two-bedroom apartment without spending more than 30% of income on housing expenses.”
