what will it legitimately take for things to change?

I often contemplate the real actionable strategies to getting something done, but i have watched a lot of left leaning spaces just tear each other apart for doing this and disagreeing into oblivion. I'm just wondering, what are real actionable, possible things that would cause work reform in the US? Aside from our governmental bodies magically deciding to work together for the good of the people, burning everything down in a violent revolution, or everyone giving up. What are the real goalposts? I know obviously I'm not the only one just wasting away waiting for things to change. It seems like if we did something, things could change more rapidly, but i don't know if i am wrong about that. Also i don't know what to do, but i don't like feeling powerless or that things will never change. Thoughts?
