I was looking into volunteering abroad and I inquired about programs that pay for living expenses or grants for living expenses to be able to volunteer abroad. The answer I got back was that one: no they don't offer financial support, two: you need years of volunteer experience to get “free” volunteer opportunities (like a pyramid scheme almost) or three: you need academic and professional credentials (which you wouldn't need financial support then anyhow).
Is volunteering a fucking elitist activity now too? I would think some of the funding could go to putting up a person who just wants to swing a hammer but what do I know🤷️
