Quiet Promotion & Owner basically admits to wanting slaves

(Yes, I am looking for a new job) I'm a crew leader for a company that has in-house events and also contract work. I'm being vague but it basically is physical work with constantly changing plans. My supervisor and the owner got into a physical fight a few months ago off the clock. Police, lawyers, etc. Supervisor never came back. I was basically told to step up and help out and 'do my best' while they found someone else. I set firm boundaries at the beginning of this crap because I know my worth. No pay raise, but I did get approved for unlimited OT pay. So not terrible. Owner just basically told me that they've decided they don't need supervisors, they're too expensive, etc. So my asking for compensation pay for doing supervisor work was rejected. I'm a crew leader for a company that has in-house events and also contract work. I'm being vague but it basically is physical work with constantly changing plans.

My supervisor and the owner got into a physical fight a few months ago off the clock. Police, lawyers, etc. Supervisor never came back. I was basically told to step up and help out and 'do my best' while they found someone else.

Owner just basically told me that they've decided they don't need supervisors, they're too expensive, etc. So my asking for compensation pay for doing supervisor work was rejected.

Now I've gone back to just doing my basic job, refusing to do supervisor work and I am being torn into at all hours via email, text and phone calls.

“Why isn't this done?” “Why didn't you finish this task?” “Why aren't you answering your phone at 4am?” “Why aren't you completing these tasks in a more timely manner?”

I responded in an email with my original contract, and what my job duties are as a crew leader. That I never signed up to be a Supervisor and we never redid my contract.

Owner starts going off about how this is why he hires foreign workers. Tells me:

“Mexicans don't question what needs to get done or who does it! They just work! They want to be here to work so they'll do 10, 12, 14 hours without question!” “I can call them in any hour of the day and they'll do it and be happy!” “They don't question direction or things that need to be done in the day” “They will do whatever I ask them to do and they never give me attitude!” “They work hard for their families back home so I make sure I keep them busy!”

Now, I know he brings in foreign workers on work visas. I know he puts them up in housing he owns. And I know they fucking hate when he does that shit, asking them to work 7 days a week. But they're scared he will send them back home if they don't go along with these ridiculous instructions and jobs.

I'm just so disguted that he thinks openly admitting to overworking people is okay. He treats people like slaves, and gets mad when we set boundaries or refuse unsafe working conditions.

I honestly believe that most owners are narcissists that get off on the power trip.

The thing that sucks is I'm very good at this job, and I actually really enjoy it. The only problem is when the owner gets involved. Some weeks he is absent and everything is awesome. Then other weeks he gets a bug up his butt and gets involved in every single business matter to the point of obsession
