I was just “fired” today in a meeting with my supervisor and their boss.
I work in an office environment (hybrid wfh) and it was over zoom.
They said that I was being terminated—but they didn’t have the date or final approval yet. I work for a mid-size company that is owned by a mega-bank. They said they are just waiting for it to go through HR from the bank side.
I was very confused and asked if I needed to bring all of my equipment to the office today. They said no, not yet. Just continue working as normal until we have the termination date. They said it could be a few weeks.
LOL. Ok. So, I’m getting fired but expected to bust my ass for a few weeks? I should just stop working since the outcome will be the same, right? Maybe just appear online and send a few random emails but, like, it’s done. But it’s not?
Im salaried and will still be making a paycheck.
Now, I’ve known my supervisors are completely dumb for quite a while. But this is just like, raucously funny.
I wonder what it will be like for them when their scapegoat has moved to greener pastures?
(I have a final interview for a job that I have an informal offer for, this last interview is just a final q&a session and the offer. So, I’m not worried.)
Has this happened to anyone? Expected to work when you’re fired? I mean, am I all clear to just fuck off mostly because the outcome is the same?
