in need of help, I believe I was wrongfully fired.

Sunday night, Monday morning (midnight) a friend ive had for 12 years had a stroke and was in a coma. I found out in time to give my employer a 16 hour notice. My boss told me if I didn't come in that next day I would not be coming in again. I just wanted to be by my friends side when they took him off life support, so now I'm without a job and a close friend. Is there anything legally I can do? I do live in a “right to work” state if that helps. I honestly feel like my manager just doesn't want to do her job.
