Has anyone ever worked as a Union Rep?

So I've been in some good interviews lately and I have one job that I feel really positive about interviewing me next week. I have exactly what they're looking for and I was passed on to the next round almost immediately after a great interview so I think I'll get the job. The only thing is I've been applying with a local union for like 2 years and finally got correspondence regarding a rep position. I mean like absolutely the worst I've ever seen. Reviews that talk about how they force you to vote for the current president, how you can't get ahead unless you fuck someone, how they aren't invested in the union only the union dues, how they fire you the day before your one year. All sorts of bad shit. I really want to be a union rep and work towards representing my values irl but it feels like this might be a bad choice.
