I work in NC, I started a job a few weeks ago. My second pay check was significantly less than the first. After reviewing the pay stub I noticed a deduction for a few hundred dollars. The itemized paystub said 401k contribution. The thing is I didn’t opt into any 401k plan. I gave the company that handles my company’s payroll a call, and they told me when I was being onboarded I was automatically signed up for this and I should have opted out then. They told me they couldn’t do anything without the owner of my company getting involved. I sent an email to him last week and haven’t heard anything back.
