Imagine this:
You just turned 18 years old and your boomer parents encourage you to get a job. You ask how and they tell you to just walk into any store and ask for a job.
“That’s how it worked back in my day.”
So you do.
The employees and managers look at you like a weirdo and then they tell you to apply online just like everyone else. So you do.
No response. The store has a big “Now Hiring Sign” in the front yet they don’t even have to decency to actually go through and accept applications.
It’s been 4 months now. You’ve applied to jobs non-stop and have gotten only 2-3 interviews. No calls back.
Nobody will hire you because you don’t have enough experience and you’re on a waiting list. You don’t qualify for unemployment either.
