New car policies

I work for a non profit agency in which I go out into the community to visit clients at their homes, or take them with me elsewhere in the community. The agency has been cracking down on mileage reimbursement when they have cars available for use, but only recently made checking out those vehicles an easy process. Before you could have one in your name and go to pick it up for your appointment only to find someone else had taken it. They finally decided to get more vehicles and introduced a new policy about safety inspection, no drinking (even water) in the cars, a bunch of other things. The kicker is that they decided to include a caveat that if you have supervisor permission to drive your own vehicle for agency business then your vehicle is subject to those same things. The line reads “supervisor may inspect your vehicle”…

The kicker is that they decided to include a caveat that if you have supervisor permission to drive your own vehicle for agency business then your vehicle is subject to those same things. The line reads “supervisor may inspect your vehicle” which is intended for lights and tires and stuff, but it's so loosely defined that it feels not a stretch for interior searches. And I'm not too sure about signing away my ability to drink coffee in my own car. They aren't paying the insurance or anything except the mileage to and from appointments.

Is this a labor board issue?
