So my wife is a PCA doing home health care.
Her main client was in a home that had no access to running water, literal trash everywhere, no bathroom access, and a hole in the kitchen all the way to the ground that was filled with trash. She worked there about 2 weeks tryin her best to care for this client untill she just couldn't take it any more. Having to leave and go use the bathroom at the dollar general down the road. Unable to wash her hands after changing her clients undergarments, looking at a literal trash dumb for 7 hours a day.
Now her director told her when she was hired that she wouldn't put a caregiver in any environment she personally wouldn't work in. That turned out to be false as she refused to go back to the house after her initial assessment of the house and client. They knew the condition of the house but when the state it's footing the bill you know you're getting paid no matter what so they accepted the client.
My wife made the issues very clear on several occasions while she was caring for this Individual, the lack of facilities to clean and use the restroom, the dangerous condition of the hole in the floor, to wich the owner of the company asked her to measure the hole so she could get a piece of plywood and place it over the hole filled with trash (she has pictures of the house and the floor because she was asked to measure by her boss)
After a couple weeks my wife couldn't do it any more and asked to be reassigned to a different client to wich they agreed but couldn't find her a client or so she thought.
She had a meeting with her director Friday and she went over her schedule going forward starting the next Monday to wich my wife agreed and planned to start at her new client the following week.
The next day her director called her cussing and screaming because she “didn't show up” to a client that day, witch she was never made aware of. Considering she was in her office the previous day and wasn't told about this client she was caught off guard.
Then she gets an email saying her clients are being reallocated to other caregivers and to come in the office the next day for a meeting. During this meeting the director claims to have given her a physical copy of her schedule with the client she supposedly missed on it (not true my wife always posts her calenders on the fridge) and that she couldn't be trusted and they didnt have any clients for her but to continue to check her email for new schedules (wich the director also claimed she never emails them always hands them out in person, also a lie) my wife asked if they were letting her go and they said no she's still employed they just won't be giving her any clients. They know she's got a case against them if she fired her so they're just going to act like she abandoned her post instead of firing her.
Not sure what to do at this point. It pisses me off so bad that employers can do this shit.
