“It’s Not MY Job”.

How many people have used this line? My military days, and some small crew jobs, kinda made it one of those “forbidden phrases”. However stuff like “I'm not qualified/certified for that task.” , “I cannot complete that task and my assigned duties in the timeframe requested” were acceptable. And “that's above my pay grade” Was looked down on, but grudgingly accepted. I just saw a guy fired from a $54/ph job because he told the facility manager “it's not my job” to clean up a toilet he had destroyed. Our janitorial crew comes just once a day. Our job description states at the bottom under tasks “work as directed by lead and supervisory staff”. This is probably the 4th time he has done this in the last 2 months, and I guess it was the final straw for management.
