I work for a Healthcare company in the US that is largely know in my area. Ive been there for nearly a decade, and have been with them through the ups and downs.
Last week I attended our annual employee benefits. The entire company was in an uproar because we are loosing our current, decent plans, for a high premium, high deductible plan. My premium is doubling to nearly $500 a pay and my yearly deductible is grown 10 fold. We also cannot see anyone outside of our practice as it's non covered. BUT they don't have many specialists e.g. psychiatrists. When asked we were told this was all due to “raising healthcare costs”.
Today however, our CEO talked about bringing in nearly 20 million last month, which was way over goal. We've done that several times this year alone. But somehow, as a healhcare organization, they cannot offer their employees decent insurance.
I have never felt so disrespected at this job. How can you brag about record profits to your employees while they are scrambling trying to find insurance that won't leave them broke or without healthcare at all?
