every time I bring up how bad work culture is people just disregard the comment

I work as a writer and even though the pay is inconsistent and small I would prefer free lancing and working on commission than anything. But that doesn't seem to stop my parents from bringing up my lack of traditional job at any moment I mention money. Things like “you should get an office job, at least it'd offer some stability” but idk about any one but who wants to sit in a cubicle (which have been proven to be bad for mental activity) creating spreadsheets or whatever just because of “stability” I don't want to enter a work environment where I'd likely get paid less than my pieers purely because of gender, have no opportunities for advancement, and be paid above minimum but not even close to living wage. The worst thing is is that this is coming from my mum who's been stuck in an office job for 20 years, hasn't gotten more than a £0.50 rise to adjust for inflation, and is still paid barely above minimum for a high stress job that puts her putting in over 80 hours of work a week during the summer months.
