Sat through a Company All Hands meeting where C level executives talked about inflation…. And all they said was it doesn’t last forever. So they looked back to when COL increases out paced inflation… and are using that as justification what COL we are going to get this year.

The CFO said “For those of you that are not my age (assuming he means 45-50+ years old), inflation does go down or negative…. And even though we know our younger work force has only seen inflation go up, that it actually goes down too, and has to go down eventually” Are you kidding… you just told the younger generation of workers that, even though we have only struggled with wages, saving money, and paying living expenses… that you are justifying not increasing our COL to match inflation because it’ll eventually go down?! And tell us to just “hang in there, you’ll eventually be Ok”? You wonder why the attrition rate is growing… Edit 1: talked to a co-worker and she pointed out even more frustration (as a lot of us know), that the people making the decisions are blurring lines between COL and Merit increases…. COL should at least…

Edit 1: talked to a co-worker and she pointed out even more frustration (as a lot of us know), that the people making the decisions are blurring lines between COL and Merit increases…. COL should at least be close to inflation, and merit is based on performance. Seeing most companies combine these income increases, they’re burying the fact you’re underpaid by mixing the two
