The Supreme Court can’t take away our right to collective bargaining, here’s why

Most “rights” are derived from culturally and socially accepted basic individual needs. In America we boiled these down to “Life, Liberty, and property (pursuit of happiness)” thanks to political philosopher John Locke. Collective bargaining is unlike our other rights, because it comes from a completely different source. While connections could certainly be made back to Lockean tenets, we have the right to unionize and collectively bargain by virtue of basic math. There are too many of us, and too few of them. The Supreme Court can make any ruling they like, it doesn't change the numbers. The right to collective bargaining was fought for and won by a LOT of brave people, not a few. It was not handed to anyone, it was taken from oligarchs by force. We must never forget that.

For context, I am an attorney. I understand the court system well. I am promising anyone who stumbles upon this, the courts simply cannot handle these suits if we force them to file in large numbers. The threatening nature of this even being heard by the SCOTUS is a testament to how fucking scared they are. Keep them afraid.

Lastly, please remember: In the United States, worker's rights is how the left will reclaim patriotism. The right can have their colored cloths, songs, pledges, and other worthless symbolism. Caring about workers means caring about Americans. That is true patriotism.

Happy Election Day.
