Long story short, there is a massive cyber attack at the multibillion dollar company where I work, messing up all computer systems. They weren't able to do payroll accurately, so they did an estimation for this last 2 week pay period…
They only had timeclock data for week 1 of the period and nothing for week 2, so they just doubled week 1 pay and added an extra $100 and promised to smooth things out later.
That doesn't work for me. I hardly had hours for week 1 but a ton of hours for week 2. My pay is over 50% short.
I appreciate it isn't their fault they got attacked, but I make minimum wage and don't like working for free. I'll call my union rep tomorrow once I clock in, but wondering if anyone had any tips or advice.
Since I'm unionized and not under probation, I plan on being a cocky asshole and spending most of the day on my phone, doing the bare minimum. If they're gonna pretend to pay me, I think I'll pretend to work?
