I was using this app picking gigs and I started going to this place that was close to where I live. They had a bunch of restaurants/coffee shops and they put me to work in one of them. The manager liked me and she asked me if I wanted to work here. I said yes and they sent me the link to apply. Then a few days later I received a job offer letter and to pass a background check.
I did pass a background check and never heard since. Meanwhile I had more shifts scheduled there and when I went, the manager was being vague that I have to finish my temp assignments first before I fill my I-9. Sounded weird but I just nodded.
Two days later I asked the supervisor who was working with us and I could tell he was lying because he was like,
“Umm. Ohhh. So you know what happened. Our company decreased the number of employees we needed and sadly we don't need you. But its okay, we have temp shifts here.”
I explained to him how I would like a full-time job and he said he would supposedly submit my application to other venues of the same company.
So the other day I worked there and everyone was being super nice and today I see that I am blocked. I can only think the fact that I told his employees I was hired and was still waiting on my I-9 and after they heard I wasn't gonna get hired, it made him look bad.
But yeah, I feel angry because I was working well and it was close to my house and I don't even know what did I do wrong. Like how some of these people get those jobs easily? I was thinking to text the supervisor about the fake image he holds but I am worried he might try to tarnish my reputation.
