My facility is $7m over budget for the year and they are making all the hourly staff either burn their PTO or short their hours.

I work in a hospital, and to say it is run poorly is an understatement. Last week we were informed that the facility is $7m over budget for the year and to help correct the issue they are “requesting” the staff with PTO take as much as they can before the end of the year, and in “non critical” departments they are asking the staff to work less hours per week. This is a ridiculous request because we are already stretched thin in staffing, so most won’t get approval for PTO usage. The admin also changed our PTO policy so at the beginning of the next year we lose any unused PTO with no carry over for the first of the year. There are people who stand to lose hundreds of hours of PTO. It is so incredibly insulting to know the C-Suite suits will just talk about how much…
