What are people thinking……

So my husband and I have decided to close our business as it's a 45min drive each way and with gas at almost $4.50 a gallon where we live, it's just not feasible. So I'm on the hunt for a new position in my field. I found what seemed to be a great opportunity however, before I even agreed to accept the position, the owner was booking clients for me and telling them that it would be me whose coming to them in 6 weeks or whatever. Fine, slightly pushy but at the time I was going to take the job anyway so I let it go. Red flag number 1. Now I've been out of the “workforce” for almost 5 years now as I've been working for myself, so I know things change but this next part blew me away. I agree to take the position even though I…

I agree to take the position even though I didn't have a great feeling about the place but the owner seemed very nice and I had actually worked with her many years ago at a different salon and so we had a slight relationship. WELL…I signed NO paperwork etc just verbally told her I was going to accept the position however with closing my business Im super busy and I also make it a point to not have my phone in my face or even on me, all the time (for my own mental health). She has the AUDACITY to scold me like a toddler for not texting her back “in a timely manner”. IM NOT EVEN HER EMPLOYEE. She was particularly pissy bc she was wanting me to pick up another persons shift next week (let me remind you I STILL DON'T WORK FOR HER at this point; no papers signed) and Im not able to bc I have to finish moving my salon etc. Red flag number 2.

I was pissed but need a job so I was STILL planning on taking the job. Then the icing to the cake. I go to pick up the new hire documents and tax docs to fill out and bring back next week. THERES A WHOLE OTHER EMPLOYEES INFO ON THESE PAPERS INCLUDING HER SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER. When I bring this to the attention of the owner her response was “can you just scribble it out?”. There were so many other things I had issue with but was willing to over look but if you're already starting with that nonsense and I DON'T EVEN WORK FOR YOU, nope I'm out. Like the entitlement is out of bounds anymore.
