If there’s too much negotiating should I just throw in the towel and move on?

Have a job offer on the table. I used an outside recruiter and was presented at a base salary I was comfortable with. Initial job offer came in 10% lower than I was presented at. I rejected it for that reason and a few others. Now they have countered and it’s 5% lower than I was presented at. I feel like at this point they don’t respect my time or skills. I was presented at one number and they agreed to interview me at that number. Is rejecting and countering a second time just a sign it’s a bad foot to be starting out on? I didn’t think in this job market they would try to be negotiating this hard and if they can’t come up 5% what’s that really mean for their future.
