Why does it keep forcing me into whatever discussion this sub has active?

I'm all for the cause, but I'm getting really annoyed that every time I refresh my feed I get forced into the active discussion. I'm sure it's probably an issue with reddit and not the subs fault, but I'm out until it gets fixed.
