It's been a few days, and this is STILL bothering me. Need to vent.
I was able to get myself an interview as a Front Desk Associate for a popular brand of hotels. I go to the interview, and at first, it goes VERY well. I answer everything well, I'm being charismatic, etc. The interviewer seems to be receptive and likes what she's hearing. She starts talking to me as if the job is already mine. When discussing the next steps, she tells me I need to fill out another application (even though I obviously already filled one out), and create some online Employee Portal Account.
She gives me laptop with a nearly dead battery, and a paper application to fill out. And a pen with NO ink that absolutely REFUSES to write. During this whole time, I was by myself in a conference room and she had left me alone to fill these out. I finish the online account creation SECONDS before the laptop battery dies. After not being able to get the pen to work, I leave the conference room and go to the front desk to ask for another pen. I go back to the conference room and start filling everything out. She immediately opens the door and asks if “Everything is alright?” with a sort of cold, rude tone that comes out of nowhere. I just say 'Yup. Great.' and continue filling out the application. It takes me a while to fill out this application THAT I ALREADY DAMN FILLED OUT, so I'm looking through my phone to verify previous employer addresses, reference phone numbers, etc. Meanwhile, she keeps randomly coming back in, trying to rush me along and asks me several times, VERY coldly if I'm 'done yet'. At one point she even comes in with a can of Coca-Cola, opens it and then drinks, and gives me a look of disdain. Her body language, tone, and facial expressions were a TOTAL 180 from before. My writing on the 2nd application was also sloppy and not perfect from her basically rushing me along. She wasn't very kind upon my leaving either, even though I was very polite. Even though I was feeling very upset about her sudden change in behavior, I still wrote her a Thank You email…hoping it'd work in my favor. Never got a response. And obviously didn't get called back for the job.
I just don't understand. the job hunt has been very hard on me, and I've already dealt with so much BS. This whole thing was very demotivating, and I don't even want to put myself through something like this happening again.
