I’ll try to make this quick as I can but basically I lost another job and got a new job through a temp service because I was flat broke. I was told I would be on a rotating 12 hr/day 3 days on 3 days off swing shift (alternating between days and nights). All I was told about the job was that it was driving forklift and loading trucks at a paper bag warehouse. I get to the job and first thing I’m told is no you work M-F 8 hrs from 6-2. Ok fine. Also I only get one 20 minute break/lunch per day and I can’t go to my car without permission and at the end of week one I was told I can’t keep doing that. I start working and I’m basically just loading trucks. About a week in and they tell me that I’m actually not going to be loading trucks and it is for senior employees and that I’m actually going to be training to pick up loads from the production floor and band pallets as a B driver in 2 weeks. Ok fine. 2 weeks pass and I train to be a B driver and then I’m told I was actually hired to be an A driver. Ok… so I train to be an A driver which is scanning the loads the B driver brings into the system and wrapping them. Definitely more to the job and more work than a B driver. I get sick during this time and I show up to work one day and tell my manager I’m sick so I might be a little laggy but she insists I got home. The next day she stays home sick. I contact her while at work the next day still sick on a really slow day and she tells me if I go home I get a point and temps only have two points. OK. She says if I wait till 10am I’ll only get half so I wait till 10 and go home. Next week at the end of the week she randomly tells me when I come in I think on a Thursday or Friday that you have to stay for 12 hrs…. Ok…. Also I have to work Saturday for 12 hours… ok…. I do it: come back the next week and another Friday 12 hrs. No prior notice. Okay. Another week passes (and the schedule goes to 2-10pm) and an A driver quits so now we all have to work 12 hrs (6pm-6am). Now I’m the go to A driver and my B driver it’s fucking trash. I might as well be an AB driver because he is the laziest work when he wants to piece of shit I think I have ever worked with and it’s making me say fuck all this shit. I try to stay for the overtime and because I’m coming off of being broke but it just don’t even seem worth it to bear any longer. I’m starting to feel like being broke is better than this. If I address this to this guy and he gives me push back I don’t trust myself to manage my anger enough so I have just avoided it for now. Sorry for the No paragraph structure and ranting but… yeah. I dunno I feel like I’m in jail for a damn paycheck! My manager talks to everyone crazy as hell too… when she randomly put us on 12s and said “no exceptions no negotiations” i told her I would finish my 2-10 week out and THEN go to twelve. She protested and I was like if I had something to do like an obligation made around the old schedule then what? “Well then you would get a point”.
