[Mostly just a vent]
So, today my manager got aggro towards me for getting a drink. He had sent myself and two other members of staff outside to try and pull more people into the store. One of these staff members of pregnant and had been having pains – still had to go outside. I needed a drink, so went to a shop a couple of doors down, and was only about 30 seconds-1 minute overall because it was very quiet. Manager came out just as I got back and started bitching me out because I hadn't asked him, I said I'll bear it in mind next time. He went back in, and I was getting angry at how he had spoken to me, and when I get angry I cry. My colleagues noticed and came over to try and comfort me. When my manager noticed, he came out and was rather aggressively saying “why you crying? What you crying for? Why you crying” so I told him he had pissed me off, I wasn't going to deal with how he was speaking to me, and I was going home. Called the company directors to tell them what had happened, they didn't seem to care that a manager had made a staff member feel so disrespected that they'd left shift, and just said that I was putting them in a precarious situation. Don't you just love vague threats.
The manager who was berating me in public over my emotions has told the two members of staff there that I've quit (at that point I hadn't)
I've now handed in my 2 week notice, explaining my reasons why, and I'm going to see what happens.
Honestly, I'll be glad to see the back of that place. New owners have made the last 2 months hell anyway – installing cctv with audio in all areas but the toilets and using it to monitor our productivity and then call up and berate us when it's quiet, I've been consistently misgendered by management (which I've been dealing with since I came out so it doesn't bother me too much, but it does tell me what kind of people they are) and all of the female staff there have been spoken to disrespectfully by management at one point or another
another.
Something else will come up, and I'll be fine.
