Just an anti-work rant

So I just got laid off. My boss warned me a week ago that it was a possibility and officially told me yesterday that I’d have no more work. Frustrating but that’s the tip of the iceberg. For starters, I moved 2,000 miles on a dimes notice for this job. My boss and I have a personal relationship, and I came out here months before the agreed upon date because his workers both quit during early COVID.

Since, I have been solely responsible for the work the two of them did. My boss, after all of that, hired the two of them back, giving them the promotion I was striving for. Now that we’re out of field work for me to do, I’m SOL while the other two are sitting in a warm office working my job.

I’ve also dealt with late checks (nearly every one since I started in May 2020, and up to a week or so late). I’m tired of all the rights business owners get whereas workers have few. Like if I didn’t give 2 weeks notice AT LEAST I would’ve been blacklisted from any other job, but I can get let off on a moments notice and whose going to hold the business owner responsible.

Worst of all, I have a degree and student debt to pay for, these two are high school grads who live with their parents.

I have vowed since things started to go wrong in this job to never put work before myself again. Work to live don’t live to work.
