She’s a single mom who works 2 jobs…

So work is extra aggravating me right now, and I need to vent. I left my last job almost two months ago. I was hired as part time, and that was fine initially. As soon as I start they tell me I’ll be working full time due to them being short staffed. Okay. Well three months later I’m set for my 3 month review. Still working full time hours. It doesn’t happen because my boss is busy. Another month goes by and she finally gives me my review after I have asked multiple times because I wanted to know how my performance was. At this meeting I mention to her that if I would like to be considered as a full time employee. She agrees and we move on.

I get a 75 cent raise (lol) well someone ends up quitting and at this point we’re at six months and I’m still working full time, commuting 80 miles a day, and everyone is starting to take vacations and I can’t even get off to take my child to the doctor without losing pay. I ask again if she will consider making me full time considering I have been working full time hours for the past six months. She gets my hopes up saying she will speak to the director and we should be making me full time. Weeks go by and I have mentioned it to her maybe twice in passing, and finally she tells me they aren’t sure where the business stands and they can’t make me full time right now. Understand completely, and let it go. Two months later another employee quits which leaves us with a total of 4 people in our busy office. We’re working over, and I have taken over the roles of the employee who has left who had been there for years. Everything is starting to wear on me at this point. So 8 months in I’m still working full time, and my friend texts me saying she saw an ad on indeed that my job was hiring a full time employee. My boss is on vacation out of the country at this point. So I finally break chain of command and ask the director to meet. She tells me that they are finally making me full time after almost a year, but they are also hiring another full time employee. Turns out while on vacation my boss’ daughter interviewed via FaceTime and got the job. LOL I’m irate at this point and immediately start looking for another job. The real kicker was when she starts my bosss tells me that her daughter and I will be sharing a desk even though I desk hopped for almost a year with no assigned desk. I ended up going to an interview at 7am before my commute and getting the job. My boss seemed shocked. What do you expect? Moral of the story is my boss sucked, and if yours does too I hope you are able to get the hell out of there as soon as humanly possible.
