Unrealistic job demands for teenagers

At my first job, if you couldn’t make it to a shift, you had to find someone to cover you or else you’d get a point, too many points and you’re fired. One time, I had a choir concert (that I had to perform at for a grade) that was happening at a time I was scheduled to work. I went into my job, ran around the whole store asking people if they could cover my shift and multiple of my older coworkers told me that if I kept having conflicts like this, I was going to have to choose between work and school… I was 16. That’s something that can be frustrating about certain entry level jobs where the age range of workers is so large.
