our client had me organize their end of year dinner, they picked a venue and I sent them the deposit details. They then ask for the invite and make us URGENTLY design create and send it to them within a business day to send to all their clients which you would assume if theyre inviting people theyve paid the fucking deposit right?
today the venue calls saying theyre giving it away because the client never paid the deposit so I email the main finance person of our client and they go “next time prior to sending out client notices, ensure the venue is secured”
So I reply that I had sent the deposit contract and terms two days before we were prompted to provide the event invite. The understanding at that point was that because invites were expected to be ready so soon after agreeing on the venue and going out that the deposit was paid from the client's side.
background: when they asked for the invite they literally asked the DAY after they picked the venue and made me work overtime to have it designed created and sent to them to send out asap. It was so stressful.
They reply: Suggest next event you specifically check if a deposit has been made rather than assume. That would be helpful !
how the flying F is it my fault if THEY didnt pay the deposit and THEY rushed the invite out to all their clients
Was I supposed to reply to the email pressuring us to provide the invite asap with “ok but did you pay the deposit tho?” like they're grown adults not children. I would have been accused of being patronizing.
