My friend got fired on Thursday because the Project Executive who hired him got fired. He worked there for 3 weeks as a Superintendent (construction) with no experience.

He was making about 1000$ a week salaried, they met with him and told him they weren’t aware he was brand new to this. And that he was gonna be transferred to a new floating position for about $25/hr. They called him later and said it would be best to just cut ties. Nothing in writing or email, he emailed them and got ghosted. What are my friends best options, should he file for unemployment? This is in MD btw.
