So the job I have now gives us 5 sick days and 5 personal days. I decided to take 3 personal days off before we were off for an entire week due to kids being out of school (I work for a school district). I am a floater so I'm not chained to one job site, so unless I'm assigned somewhere for a week or so, there's nowhere expecting me to show up. I wasn't told I would be assigned anywhere for any length of time so I called the days in. No days are blacked out and no system exists to request time off to be approved. You just call in and that's it. I had the time accrued so I called in and gave notice. The next day I received a call from the supervisor and she told me that I was out of time to take off (untrue, as I had 2 hours leftover after the 3 days) and if I called in again I may be written up. I said okay and we hung up. It's sat with me for awhile. I'll be looking for something else pronto because if we are absent more than 10 times in the year over a 2 year consecutive period, we can't get raises and may be recommended for termination. If I get sick with Covid again (very likely) I guess I'm going to have to come in and infect everyone to avoid getting written up but I'm not about to do that. This isn't worth $14 an hour.
