Am I crazy for seeing it this way? I know this isn’t how it ends up working out but what are civil servants if not to ensure the government continues to work for its people? At least on paper.
It seems people will either think of a given representative as some sort of ruler/authority figure or some weird celebrity, and then form an opinion of them based around this persona.
I wonder if this dynamic will ever change. We can vote them in, we can vote them out, we pay them through our taxes and expect a return on that in the form of a functioning society. It makes sense to me to look at it as an employee/employer relationship.
