So I work in a unit looking after young adults. We lone work. 2 staff are off sick.
My manager knows this but has extended her annual leave. She knows that if I get up and leave she will give me a terrible reference. Which in this line of work is really important.
The owners of the company really couldn't care. They are refusing to get agency staff or send staff from other units.
I feel so fucking worthless right now. I give my all because I care about the kids.
Like I said it's not as easy as just walking out. References are extremely important. Even if I explain the situation to a potential new employer they would likely think I was lying.
Somebody is meant to be coming in tomorrow to take over but I am obviously a bit paranoid they won't turn up either. In which case I could be here til Saturday or Sunday…..
I am looking for a new job as we speak but with all the background checks that usually takes a few weeks. Plus I have to work my 4 week notice.
