For information purposes: I work in Switzerland, not a high class job, but decent pay. Health care and benefits and everything is obviously included in law, but that's not what I wanna brag out or talk about here, enough people have already described how amazing and better run the systems are compared to the US.
What i just DON'T understand though, why is it that, from a psychological point of view, all the bosses, work policies and much more seem sooooo toxic in the US? It seems like every worker is exploited there, like every employee could sue their employer any day, like everywhere minimum wage is barely paid, like bosses will fire you for missing a single day, for talking about salary with others.
How come that there is such a big difference in highly developped countries like the USA and most European countries, regarding the views and the behaviour of bosses towards their workers? I have worked a couple of jobs and loved every single on. I've had the nicest bosses, best co-workers, we talked freely about everything, even talked about salary at lunch with our manager. Never a problem. I've had years where I missed like 10-20 work days due to sickness, never a problem. Also everything paid of course.
What is it that causes this big and shocking difference in the mindset of employers, how can the people in 2 countries that are well developped be so different ?
