I plan on leaving my job as soon as possible. There are several reasons for this, but suffice to say, I was a poor fit for the job and it was a poor fit for me.
What are some things people should know before quitting? What steps should someone in my position take and when?
I realize these may sound like questions for a normal jobs forum, but everyone already knows what they would recommend — spruce up your resume, develop a positive social media presence, be pleasant, prompt and well-dressed during interviews, have another job lined up beforehand — etc.
I think a second opinion is needed for job-seekers with an antiwork perspective.

(About my situation: Over the past 20 years of my employment history, I have never been fired or quit a job. I am financially responsible for my wife (disabled) and our two-year-old. I own my home so I don't necessarily need a real living wage to get by — in fact, a lower paid job that qualifies us for medicare would help decrease our household expenses. My area has few employers, so any advice on WFH options would be appreciated.)
