Go to college they said. You’ll have better luck finding a job they said. Let me say so far in my experience that has been absolute bullshit. I worked hard in college, got decent grades, did extracurriculars, etc. Yet I still can’t seem to find anyone who will hire me in a position that I’m interested. I had spent months and months searching, spending hours writing resumes, emails, getting more and more stressed when none of those positions responded. I finally decided to settle for the only jobs that would hire me which didn’t even require a hs diploma. Rn I hate my job so much, I’m just an office assistant in a healthcare setting which didn’t even require a degree or any special skills to get. But it was the only position that even offered me something somewhat close to a living wage. The other job requirements in my field were asking for a masters degree and 5-10 years of experience just to make around ~40k per year. For the ones that only required bachelors degree the most they’d pay is like $15/hr. Now a days that is nothing for someone who went through higher education and is paying off loans. Like I’m so mad bc I could’ve saved thousands and THOUSANDS of dollars just working right out of high school and making money & I could’ve still landed the same position. This makes me hopeless
