i worked another job in my hometown for about half a year and just moved, and i told my boss i should be able to work for the week of christmas. well, things changed. i found a better job. my old job paid me minimum wage, i got no breaks even if i worked a ten hour shift from open to close, most days i didn't even have time to sit and eat lunch, and so many of the customers i dealt with were just plain rude. this new job pays more, i'm allotted a break even if my shift is just four hours, and everyone i work with is actually mostly pleasant. they have me scheduled to work this week, and i am not leaving them out to dry so that i can go back to a job that exhausted every ounce of energy i had. only plus to my old job was that my coworkers were nice and bought me things sometimes, and it's a small community owned store that's struggling to keep workers, so i get the feeling that they really need me. i don't know, i kind of feel bad for letting them know the day before i was expected to come back that it's not happening anymore, but it just doesn't seem worth it to me. what do you guys think?
tldr; my old job sucks even if my coworkers were kind and respectful, new job is a lot better and scheduled me for this week and because of that i won't be going back to old job to help with the christmas rush as i originally promised.
